AUGUST GATHERING
Please join us at Mack Jackson's studio. Please bring a piece or two of your work to share, if you would like. Come enjoy Mack's studio in the country. Refreshments will be provided by Calvin & Delores Taylor

AUGUST EXHIBITS

Geri Trinler at the Boyle County Public Library.Several Gathering Artists will be showing at Dr. Baeker's from August through December.(Commonwealth Hematology and Oncology, on the 150 Bypass next to Shoney's).McDowell Wellness Center will show the work of Diane Carey.

NOVEMBER EXHIBIT AT THE WELLNESS CENTER
The group decided at the July meeting to have an "All Member" exhibit at the Wellness Center in November. The Wellness Center has asked to be a stop during the Art Commission Gallery Hop and would like the artists featured during November to be their designated Gallery Hop artists. This will give those artists who do not want to do a whole set-up at a Gallery Hop location a chance to participate. If you are interested in being in that exhibit, please come to the next meeting or contact Geri Trinler or Fox Hutt.

AIRPORT EXHIBIT SPACE

Several members volunteered to form an Airport Exhibit "committee". Wayne Daugherty, John Robinson, Linda Neal, Shirley Cochran-Walls, and Joe Baron will work on getting that exhibit space up and running and will monitor it as we go along. Hopefully we can have both wall space and a case for 3-dimensional work. The group felt we should have a 3-month rotation for that exhibit. The Airport will host a reception at the beginning of each show. The Airport folks will take a commission (to be determined, but probably 20% to 25%) to cover their costs.

ADVOCATE MESSENGER WILL FEATURE ARTISTS

Jennifer Brummett at the Advocate Messenger has begun writing articles on the artists exhibiting each month. Did you see the great article on Virginia Robertson a few weeks ago? When you are scheduled for an upcoming month in one of our exhibits, Fox Hutt will check with you to make sure you are open to Jennifer contacting you and then will supply her with your contact info. She won't be able to interview everyone whose name I supply her, (she probably will do one article a month) but she hopefully will get to all of us over time. Geri Trinler is scheduled for Sunday August 8.

EXHIBIT AND GATHERING ARTISTS NAME AND LOGO GUIDELINES

The group reviewed the two sets of guidelines at our July meeting and found that they continue to be appropriate. The group did believe we should require some consistency at the sanctioned Gathering Artists' exhibits. Unless there is an objection raised in the future, we will add the following to the Exhibit Guidelines:

At sanctioned Gathering Artists exhibits, artists must label their work in one (or both) of the following two methods:
1. Gathering Artists Display Cards with the GA Logo, typed or handwritten, stating the artist's choice of the following: Artist's name, Title of the piece, Medium, and/or Price, which will be mounted near the artwork.
AND/OR
2. A printed sheet (or sheets for folks to take with them) with the words "Gathering Artists" and, if possible, the GA Logo on it, which states the artist's choice of the same information listed above for each piece in the exhibit.
If you see anything that needs to be changed or that you object to in that wording, please come to the August meeting, or call or write to Fox Hutt (859.332.7046).

Geri Trinler volunteered to send out the GA Logo by e-mail so folks can use it for the printed sheets. Nancy Beresford has the Gathering Artists Display Cards for sale (13 for $1). She brings them to each meeting and you can get them from her between meetings as well.

MARKETING GROUP

After the regular Gathering Artists meeting in July, a newly formed Marketing Group met. Kathleen O'Brien gave a very interesting and comprehensive talk on her marketing experience. We were able to make an audio tape of her talk which is available to those who were unable to attend the July meeting. Please contact Fox Hutt if you are interested in borrowing the tape.

Geri Trinler will talk about "The Basics of Internet Presence" after the August meeting.

Subjects the group would like more information on are:
1. Pricing our work
2. Further information on having professional slides and photos taken or taking them ourselves (Kathleen gave us some very valuable information in her talk)
If you have other subjects you would like the group to explore or know of speakers you think would be good to have come talk to us, please contact Fox Hutt (859.332.7046)

Joyce Marshall sent in the following announcement.

I am planning on attending a show in Tennessee at the end of the month, and one of the Coordinators has asked me to pass the information along to anyone interested in participating."Plans are being finalized for the bicentennial celebration of historic Charlotte Tennessee on August 28, 2004. Charlotte was established in 1804 and is known for the fact that the courthouse is the oldest still in use. The annual festival is being expanded to include the 200th birthday of Charlotte. We would be please to have you join us and partake in the festivities. There will be a parade beginning at 10:30. After the parade there will be a contest for the best outfit of the early period (1800 - 1840) and the Civil War period (1860 to 1890). There will be music, food and vendors set up around the city square."

Marilyn has asked that if anyone is interested in setting up booth space please consider yourself invited. If you have any questions, you may call me (Joyce Marshall - 859-548-3834) or Marilyn Stansberry - 615-789-4999. This is a one day festival -- approx. 9 a.m. to 6p.m.Location is in Charlotte, TN. Approx. 40 miles outside of Nashville. I have more complete information for anyone interested in exhibiting or attending.
