Dave Cornwell

David Cornwell keeps busy-very busy. It was only a couple of years ago that he began his home business, engraving eggs. Added to his full-time job, David engraves all types of eggs, be they chicken, goose, rhea or emu. Using his SCM rotary tool (which is similar to the Paragrave) he carves oval patterns into chicken eggs. Various patterns and lattice work are created on goose eggs by this Kentucky artisan while lattice, various designs, floral arrangements and scenes make Cornwells' rhea and emu eggs an object d'art.

Recently David Cornwell had the distinction of being accepted by the Kentucky Crafts Program. David explains that Kentucky craft artists Jury their work every year in July. "They have seminars and workshops for merchandising, dealing with wholesalers, booth layouts, pricing, and just about anything else you can think of, all for free," he comments about registrants.

David explains further that the Kentucky Crafts Program host "The Market" in January and that it is held in a Louisville exposition hall where 275 booths are available to these arts "It is a three day affair, with Friday for wholesalers, and Saturday and Sunday the public.

One year they had about 600 wholesalers and over 8,000 public attendees." David is looking forward to next year, when he hopes to attend this exciting event. "I am excited about all that the Craft Program offers and will share as much as I can with fellow eggers, David says enthusiastically, giving "thumbs up" to the Eggers' University.
