MAY GATHERINGWe will meet at Dr. Baeker's office (On the 150 Bypass next to Shoneys)Following a short business meeting, there will be a catered reception for the exhibit and it will last until noon. This is an Arts Passport Event. Nancy Beresford and Linda Neal will be responsible for the stamping and selling of Passports.

MAY EXHIBITSDelores Taylor at the Boyle County Public Library. Several Gathering Artists are the featured at Dr. Baeker's through December. McDowell Wellness Center, will show the work of Diane Reed.

At the April Meeting, the group decided to look into a potential exhibit possibility at the local Airport Lobby. John Robinson and Ann Nichols will be checking out the space, lighting, etc. and there will be more information at the next meeting. Evidently, they say, many private jets land & take off there, which could be lucrative. They would sell, pay sales tax and take a 20-25% commission. Their proceeds would go to funding a scholarship for the arts in Boyle Co. They think the wall space is in between the size of the Wellness Center and Dr. Baeker's.

We are all set for the Exhibit at the Old Crow Inn Winery. Those who have signed up to exhibit should bring your pieces to the Winery (go down the main driveway and follow the sign that takes you to right of the Old Crow Inn, 471 Stanford Avenue, (859) 236-1808). Come between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 22nd OR Monday, May 24th, OR between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25th. John Robinson and Mary Ruth Maggard will work with Linda Brousseau to hang the show at 1:00 on that Tuesday. Quite a few folks have signed up, so unless you have pretty small pieces, please bring just one. Attach your name, title of the work and price (if it is for sale) so display cards can be made. Old Crow Inn will sell your work for you, but they take a 40% commission, so price your work accordingly.

The following artists have signed up: Diane Carey, Delores Taylor, Wayne Daugherty, John Robinson, Ginny Birney, Geri Trinler, Nancy Beresford, Gay McGuire, Diane Reed, Mary Ruth Maggard, Virginia Robertson, Jackie Zimmerman, David Cornwell, Shirley Cochran-Walls, Fox Hutt, Kathleen O'Brien, Mary Alexander, John Dixon.

The reception will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday May 29th. The reception will be an Arts Passport Event and Ginny Birney will be in charge of the Arts Commission stamp. Artists are responsible for sending out their own flyers/postcards, if desired. We will send a press release to the Advocate Messenger.

An update on the 400 Mile Hwy 68-80 Event: Exhibit/Sale on June 5th and 6th.Stewart Sanders, Director of the Perryville Enhancement Project, informs me that we can have our Gathering Artists Exhibit/Sale at the Perryville Community Center in Merchant's Row. We will have the room we used several years ago during the Battlefield Re-enactment (to the right when you go in the front door). If there are more artists than will fit in that room, we can also set up in the lobby of the building.

Unfortunately, we will not be allowed to put nails in the walls, so we will be required to bring our own easels, free-standing panels or tables for displaying. The good news is, we will be inside, it will be air-conditioned, we will have electricity for lighting and the parking will be good. They usually require a $35 fee to use the room and they would appreciate it if we would pass the hat among those who will exhibit to come up with that amount.

We will be on the 400 Mile Sale website soon (www.10000trails.com/68-80sale) and I'm working on getting some local advertising. We will have a sign out front that will indicate our show will be part of the 400 Mile Sale. Elmwood Inn and the Itchy Dog Antique Shop will also be part of the event. Mr. Sanders is working on getting some re-enacters to mill around town to, hopefully, draw attention and encourage folks to stop and shop!

Please keep in mind that this is the first year for Arts and Crafts to be featured so there is no telling what kind of response there will be. We need to talk it up locally so that folks know we will be part of this event. There is room for more artists at this time so please let me know if you are interested in participating. Fox Hutt, (859) 332-7046.

This will also be an Arts Passport Event.

There was some interest at the last meeting in starting a spin-off group to discuss marketing our work. It was decided that staying after the regular Gathering Artists meeting would be the most convenient. If this interests you, please join us after the July 10th Gathering Artists meeting. Bring any resources you would like to share and think about any potential speakers we could recruit. If you have questions or ideas about this spin-off group, call Fox Hutt (859) 332-7046.
