Wilma Brown

Wilma Brown began producing artwork as a leisure activity in 1985 when she was forty-one years old. Today that hobby has developed into a full-time career. Wilma has no formal art training so experience has been the best teacher. Word of mouth has been the best publicity.

Working almost exclusively from private commissions, Wilma is best known for her watercolor portraits, although customers also request paintings of homes or animals. Her drawings and paintings now hang in over two hundred homes and businesses in the Danville/Lexington area with a few others scattered into a wider market.

She has had one-person exhibits at Wilderness Trace Art League, Elmwood Inn, and the McDowell Wellness Center. She is also a founding member of Gathering Artists of Danville.

Wilma has learned that you can teach an old dog new tricks, and she is very grateful to the people who had confidence in her at the beginning and to those who continue to be interested in her work.
